ARM64 adoption at enterprise scale depends on a solid, governed image foundation. You’d be the one designing it.
You’ll lead delivery of an Azure ARM64 Standard Image Platform MVP for a global technology organisation. The aim is a centrally governed base-image capability that speeds up ARM64 adoption, cuts duplicated engineering effort across product teams, and enforces consistent security and platform controls. The scope covers an approved Linux image catalogue, automated publication, vulnerability management, governance and pilot adoption. This is an Azure-focused role.
Responsibilities
Own the technical design and delivery of the Azure ARM64 standard-image MVP
Define the ARM64 image strategy and supported-image lifecycle
Design the Azure image publishing and lifecycle model
Define governance for approved images and exception handling
Validate ARM64 compatibility for selected operating systems and pilot workloads
Define security control, platform agent and vulnerability-management integration
Establish image release, testing and rollback standards
Work with Cloud Platform, Security and FinOps stakeholders on architecture, adoption and metrics
Skills Required
8+ years in cloud infrastructure or cloud platform engineering
ARM64 and x86_64 architecture knowledge
VM and base-image lifecycle management
Azure Compute Gallery and Azure Policy/cloud governance
Linux platform engineering: Ubuntu and AlmaLinux or other RPM-based distributions
Security baselines, infrastructure compliance, logging and observability
Bonus: Azure Landing Zones, ARM64 workload migration, FinOps, internal developer platforms
