We are looking for an experienced
Automation SME
to join an in-house technology consultancy of a global consulting firm on a high-stakes,
Permanent contract.
In this role, you will take technical ownership of workload automation, systems management, and migration initiatives across enterprise mainframe
(z/OS) platforms.
Working closely with international engineering teams, you will lead complex automation transitions, modernise operational frameworks, and ensure high availability across mission-critical systems.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Taking end-to-end technical ownership of mainframe automation architectures, policies, and operational tooling.
Leading and executing
z/OS automation migration projects , including the transition of legacy tooling to modern enterprise automation suites.
Architecting, refining, and maintaining automation policies using
System Automation for z/OS (SA z/OS) and the Policy Database (PDB).
Designing and implementing complex automation scripts and command procedures leveraging
REXX, JCL, and NetView for z/OS.
Diagnosing and resolving critical system issues through
TSO/ISPF, optimising system event monitoring , alerting, and automated recovery flows.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline operational workflows and support continuous delivery standards.
What We’re Looking For:
5+ years of hands‑on experience in mainframe operations, systems programming, or support environments.
Deep knowledge of
NetView for z/OS and System Automation for z/OS, with practical experience configuring the Policy Database (PDB).
Consultant mindset: proactive problem solver, strong sense of technical ownership, and the ability to articulate architectural decisions clearly to stakeholders.
Familiarity with
z/OS startup/shutdown procedures, SMP/E, or competitor automation products (such as CA OPS/MVS) is a strong plus.
Must-Haves:
5+ years of commercial experience in
mainframe operations or support.
Extensive hands‑on experience with
NetView for z/OS and System Automation for z/OS (including PDB).
Strong mastery of
TSO/ISPF, JCL, and REXX scripting.
Demonstrated experience working on
z/OS automation migration projects.
Professional working proficiency in English for daily international collaboration.
Location & Working Setup:
100% Remote working model (within Poland).
