The job of the Database Engineer is to participate in development of database solutions incorporated in the manufacturing process of optical switches built by Huber+Suhner Polatis at their facilities around the world. Part of the role is to maintain and expand functionality of production database system, as well as integrating it with new and existing software controlling test and automation stations.
Key tasks:
Maintaining and expanding functionality of database structures (MsSQL)
Developing stored procedures needed for data exchange alongside other team members
Creating and revising software documentation
Analyzing production requirements and proposing data-oriented solutions
Designing and executing application test plans on database side
Maintaining SVN/GIT repositories
Following company standard good coding practices
Keeping database and test data documentation up to date
Your profile
Suitable qualification (Degree/HND/Others in a numerate discipline)
Vast knowledge of database structure design and maintenance, processing big data sets and maintaining manufacturing databases, backed by at least 4 years of experience
Firm understanding of software development process
Ability to collect and interpret requirements from other developers and production representatives
Willingness to expand your coding skillset in LabVIEW and to follow other developers’ guidance as well as to share knowledge with others
Able to communicate effectively, verbally and by email, on different organisation levels
Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
Organised, independent, and able to keep track of multiple tasks simultaneously
Commitment to quality and on-time delivery
Desirable Skills & Experience
Development skills using LabVIEW
Web interface development skills
Understanding of optical switching engineering
Experience with Jira usage and understanding of Agile methodologies
