Kotlin Tech Lead | Remote | 12-Month B2B Contract | Digital Banking We're supporting a specialist digital banking technology partner that helps financial institutions build, launch, and scale modern digital banking platforms.
Operating with a remote-first and engineering-led culture, they work closely with clients to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions while maintaining a strong focus on technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
The Role We're looking for an experienced Kotlin Tech Lead to provide technical leadership across complex digital banking projects.
This is a hands-on role combining software engineering, architecture, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement. You'll guide engineering teams, influence technical decisions, and help deliver secure, scalable cloud-native solutions used by financial institutions.
Responsibilities
Lead and mentor software engineering teams
Drive architecture and technical design decisions
Remain hands-on with Kotlin development
Design and build scalable microservices and distributed systems
Work closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes
Champion engineering best practices, testing, observability, and CI/CD
Support system performance, scalability, resilience, and security initiatives
Requirements
Strong commercial experience developing software with Kotlin
Previous experience as a Tech Lead, Lead Engineer, or similar technical leadership role
Experience building cloud-native applications and distributed systems
Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles
Experience with modern CI/CD practices and DevOps ways of working
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience within Banking, FinTech, or Financial Services
Exposure to Java and the Spring ecosystem
Experience working within regulated environments
