We are seeking an experienced Simulation Engineer to support a major offshore wind energy programme off the Polish coast, based in Gdansk, Poland. The role will involve performing advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations to assess the behaviour and performance of offshore structures. The successful candidate will contribute to engineering design optimisation, structural integrity assessments and simulation-driven decision-making throughout the project. Key Responsibilities
Develop, set up and execute Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to assess wind, wave and current loading on offshore foundations, transition pieces and installation equipment. Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for static, fatigue, modal and buckling assessments of steel structures, brackets, lifting tools and mechanical components. Develop and execute coupled fluid-structure interaction (FSI) studies to evaluate the impact of fluid loads on structural behaviour and deformation. Simulate motion, mechanical loads, clearances and operational behaviour of automated and remotely operated offshore installation and handling systems. Prepare high-quality computational meshes and perform mesh independence and convergence studies to ensure simulation accuracy and reliability. Prepare detailed technical calculation reports, simulation documentation and engineering recommendations. Present simulation findings and technical conclusions to structural designers, mechanical engineers, project managers and client representatives. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including structural, mechanical and robotics specialists, to support design development and optimisation. Maintain accurate, traceable and reusable simulation models, calculation files and technical documentation. Requirements
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Naval Architecture or a closely related engineering discipline. Minimum 6 years of professional experience in engineering simulation, preferably within offshore, marine, renewable energy or heavy industrial sectors. Strong hands-on experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software such as ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS CFX, STAR-CCM+ or OpenFOAM. Good understanding of turbulence modelling, transient simulations, fluid flow behaviour and hydrodynamic loading. Proven experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using ANSYS Mechanical, Abaqus or equivalent simulation software. Strong knowledge of static, dynamic, linear and non-linear structural analysis, fatigue assessment, modal analysis and buckling calculations. Ability to perform mesh quality assessments, mesh independence studies and simulation validation. Strong understanding of engineering mechanics, structural behaviour and environmental loading conditions. Experience preparing technical calculation reports and presenting simulation results to multidisciplinary engineering teams. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical communication skills. Professional proficiency in written and spoken English is essential. Polish language proficiency will be an advantage but is not mandatory. Previous experience in offshore wind projects, wave loading, hydrodynamic analysis or marine engineering will be highly preferred. Exposure to multibody dynamics, motion simulation or robotic and lifting system analysis will be an added advantage. Experience in fatigue assessment of welded structures and joints will be beneficial.
