UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The Strategy, Planning, Results and Effectiveness Division (SPRED) of UN Women integrates corporate strategy, resources and performance measurement to improve decision-making while increasing transparency and accountability to its governing bodies and stakeholders. The Division formulates corporate strategies aligned to the corporate objectives, ensures internal controls and risk management are fully in place, and that resources from all sources align with budget plans and organizational priorities.
The Strategic Planning Unit (SPU) in SPRED is the custodian of Results-Based Management (RBM) and leads the implementation of the Planning, Monitoring and Reporting (PMR) Policy and associated procedures. As the business owner of strategic planning and results management workstream, together with the Programme Support Management Unit (PSMU) and the Information Systems and Telecommunications (IST), SPU co-leads the development and enhancement of UN Women’s corporate online platform, the Planning, Reporting and Information System for Management (PRISM).
After the planning modules of the Strategic Plan, Strategic Notes and workplans were rolled out during the 4th quarter of 2025, followed by the roll-out of monitoring functionalities in mid-2026, the remaining reporting functionalities will be developed and implemented in late 2026 to early 2027. These functions are crucial for all Country Offices, Regional Offices and HQ Divisions/Independent Offices to monitor and report on the implementation of their respective Strategic Notes and Workplans from 2026 under the UN Women Strategic Plan 2026-2029.
The priorities in 2027 will focus on further enhancement of PRISM based on the updated version of the PMR Policy to simplify workflows, improve user experiences and data quality.
SPU also contributes to broader corporate system integration in close collaboration with other business owners, IST, and end-users, under the overall guidance of UN Women's Digital Board. Strengthening the integration of PRISM into other corporate systems is a crucial element of UN Women’s corporate transparency agenda.
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the chief of the Strategic Planning Unit, the Business Function Specialist will manage planned PRISM enhancements in 2027 by working closely with colleagues from SPU, PSMU, IST, and various colleagues from HQ, Regional and Country Offices.
